I feel like such a bum.. everyone nowadays both online and at my school has such good extracurriculars, stats and literally everything. I thought I was a pretty good student and quite smart, but seeing everyone be so insanely stacked makes me rethink that. I entered high school with only my mom having went to college like 30 years ago and no older siblings, so I really didn't know much about admissions beyond getting good grades, joining a few clubs, and some sports. Like the basic things literally everyone does. I didn't know that you needed significant leadership, research, hundreds of volunteering hours, awards, etc until like the end of my sophomore year. I spent my junior year depressed half the time, so yeah that is my fault and I could have done more activities wise. But I have good stats and everything, I managed to do what I could and then some but it feels so jarring how I'm competing with people ( for state school!! i dont even care about prestige) who've literally been preparing for college admissions since like 7th grade. I don't know.. just a rant and I really shouldn't care much because I don't want to go to competitive/prestigious schools anyway, but it seems like everyone around me is above average. Maybe I'm just in my head, but it feels so demotivating sometimes and makes me feel less hopeful for my future.
